Funeral and Grief
The funeral service is a Service of Thanksgiving, of Celebration for the earthly life of the one who has died and the hope of the resurrection to eternal life through our faith in saving work of Jesus Christ. It is important for the family to help in the planning service so that it can be as personal and meaningful as possible, in keeping with the Anglican tradition.
Within the Anglican worship service, there is an opportunity to choose two or three hymns, scripture readings, and plan the funeral address and any specific
music with the Minister. The family is invited to participate in the service, if they so desire. Below is a small list of some suggested Hymn selections, but please contact the Minister for others, or if the family has favorites not listed at: email@example.com
The service begins with the family processing into Christ Church following the deceased, after the Congregation and friends are seated. The family recesses in the same fashion during the Hymn at the close of the Service. Anglican tradition does not allow for open viewing during the service. Arrangements for open viewings can be made through the funeral Director.
The Prayer Service
If the family desires, a short prayer service may be held at the Funeral Home, Christ Church, or the Home of the Family prior to the funeral service.
If Communion service is desired, arrangements can be made for gathering on the evening before the funeral or it can be part of the funeral service. It is the desire of Christ Church, and the Minister to assist and support according to the needs of each individual family.
It is recommended that one or two of the family members assist the Funeral Director, to escort people in attendance, to thier seats as they arrive and to help with setting up extra seating in the overflow space should it be required.
Members of Christ Church Ladies may be available to cater a luch after the funeral service. This can be arranged through the Funeral Home, Christ Church office at 204-623-2119. There may be a fee for the Ladies to provide this Catering.
It is recommended that Christ Church Organist assist with the service, and that our choir be called upon as well. However, if the family would like to ask a friend or relative to supply the music they may do so. please contact both your Funeral director and the Minister. There is a recommended
for Christ Church Organist and the Choir.
