Our history

This is a brief History of the Devon Mission that outlines the foundation on which this church began. We remember and give honour to our history and the people's of the Treaty 5 land on which we are located.

Sir John Franklin

- noted area during the Arctic Exploration in 1819

- came back in 1825

The Reverend Henry Budd

- sent in 1840

- first indigenous Anglican ordained minister

- came in 1842

The Reverend James Hunter

- came in 1844

Sir John Richardson

- wintered here in 1846-47 as part of the rescue party looking for the lost Sir John Franklin
